An Exciting Opportunity to Go Caving - or Spelunking as it is Known
Exploring Spencer Cave is lots of fun for our campers who don't mind getting a little muddy. Spencer Cave is about a one-mile hike from base camp. Once inside, campers will see stalactites hanging from the ceiling as well as bats and even an occasional Cave Salamander.
Because of its distance from camp and the amount of time needed to really explore this fascinating cave, this activity requires two hours. Each week we set up a special time for each age and gender group. Jr. Boys, who sign up for this activity visit the cave in the morning and Sr. Boys go in the afternoon of the same day. Jr. Girls and Sr. Girls visit the Cave the next day.
