CIT (Counselor in Training) Program
At camp, a CIT (Counselor in Training) program educates campers on the most effective ways to become a successful team player, leader, and communicator. The CIT Program at Cub Creek Science Camp was started in 2016 to help campers learn the skills we pride our staff on having. We also recommend the CIT program for campers who will be entering into their 9th grade year of school.
At our camp, the CIT program comprises a senior camper’s 2 course periods in the beginning of the day. During this time, they will spend one-on-one time with their CIT counselor. Campers will develop and demonstrate leadership by organizing a party for their fellow campers at the end of the week and communication skills by writing and presenting a presentation on of the of the 100 animal species at camp. During the week, they will also exercise team work, learn about the duties of being both an ASIT and Counselor at CCSC, and assist in their cabin with daily duties.
The CIT program is a great way to be recommended for Cub Creek’s esteemed ASIT program. For camper’s eligible to be an ASIT in the following year, the CIT program is factored into our selection process. For any camper who is of ASIT age and has not received a recommendation for the ASIT program, participating in the CIT program lets us see your growth and improvement over the year.
