Camper Safety is Our #1 Priority
First and foremost, we are accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). This means we meet or exceed over 300 industry standards. We are required to meet a certain standard for camp and its programs. In order to uphold this accreditation, we must submit our standards yearly and They inspect our facility every three years.
We carefully screen and background check all of our year-round and summer staff. Each summer, we spend two full weeks with staff before our first campers arrive. We use this time to prepare our summer staff for the roles and responsibilities of being a summer camp counselor/leader. In that two weeks, we determine who is fit and ready to hold a position with us over the summer. All staff complete over 120 hours of training prior to campers arriving including 40 hours of on-line training and two full weeks of on-site training solidifies that staff are prepared to teach and mentor our campers.
No one other than campers and current camp staff are allowed into camp when a session is active. That means no unauthorized person is allowed past our camp office. Our staff are trained to notice anyone who is not a part of camp's team, introduce themselves, and escort them to our main office.
While campers are at camp,
- Campers use the buddy system, making sure that all campers have someone to account for them. There are very few times, if any , where campers are venturing camp on their own.
- We take attendance at the beginning of every activity period. Activities will not start until all campers are accounted for.
- We prohibit staff from every being "alone" with a camper. For the safety of all our participants, we make sure that all interactions are done in a public setting. A camper and a counselor will never be in a enclosed, private setting with each other. This includes being in a cabin, bathroom, building, or even in the woods.
- We take lots of pictures and post them everyday. This helps you also monitor you child and be engaged in their camp experience.
Camp is just a phone call away. If you are ever concerned about your child, while he or she is at camp, just give us a call! We would much rather do a quick check-in with your child and report back to you with details about their experience than have you spend time worrying about what is happening.
