Animal Internship Program
Bear River Ranch offers a unique and rewarding internship experience for staff members who wish to spend a semester learning how to take care of animals, and gaining experience to apply to a resume and future jobs! Our Animal Internship Program is most times offered to summer staff who work with us in the summer and have graduated college or are taking a semester off from school.
Our interns are provided housing and a stipend of $200 a week.
Many of our interns also have interests beyond animal care and have spent time gaining experience in:
- Camp program development and administration
- Staff recruitment, screening, hiring and training
- Development and implementation of education programs
- Photography and media portfolio opportunities
The Internship Program at Bear River Ranch is ideal for students interested in a career in animal care, organized camping, outdoor education, parks and recreation, or therapeutic recreation.
Participants in the Internship Program at Bear River Ranch spend their mornings caring for our animals and afternoons working on their own individual projects. Interns are expected to be self-directed and goal oriented.
Many counselors who join us over the summer are also able to fulfill their college requirements for an internship through working at camp over the summer! We have had early education, music, science, and recreation majors who have been able to apply their experience at camp to school for credit.
